At Dusk

I wrote this song a few years ago, but never recorded it. I’m still not quite satisfied by my vocals because I always record on my worst days, in the morning, maybe on my period… but we have to start somewhere.
My enunciation of english words is not the best, I reckon, but I’m bad also with italian, somehow, I have a terrible accent, so I can assume I’m just not good at talking.

Along the road of dusk
we once met two wives
one was young and fair of hair
the other was old and blind

They told us to beware
the King of every Hour
he can see us all, she said
I gave him our lamp

So I took off my robe
disguised me as a queen
watch me perform this magic
I swear you will not believe

And when he came I saw
he was the proudest thing
into his only eye I dived
forgot even my name

Never sweetest words
had reached my ears before
for him I would’ve given
the golden key to my heart

The truth has to be
so cruel to us, my queen
our love the purest pleasure
will be buried by dawn

Sometimes I think of myself as a discordian relativist natural pantheist, sometimes I don't. Sometimes I'm an old girl in a malfunctioning shell, sometimes I'm an ill-educated philosopher, sometimes I'm a scholar in early modern history. Sometimes I'm a graphic designer, sometimes I'm a writer, sometimes I'm a company administrator, sometimes I'm a curious animal, sometimes I'm a misanthropist, sometimes I'm a good friend. One thing is sure: I'm not the same thing all the time.
